MARION NEEDHAM KRUPP

Marion Needham Krupp lives in Bucks County, PA with her husband, Fred, and their three Scottish Terriers, Calvin, Cassy and Hobbes and wirehaired Dachshund, Clara. She received her formal art training at the High School of Art and Design, New York City, New York University, Parsons School of Design and Brooklyn College from which she earned a Bachelor of Arts.

She is a member of the Scottish Terrier Clubs of America, England and Scotland, the Dachshund Club of England, the Scottish Terrier Club of Greater New York, Wee Scots Collector Club (Scottish Terrier memorabilia) and the Dog Writers Association of America. She is very active in Scottish Terrier rescue efforts.

Marion’s artwork appears in numerous permanent collections including the AKC Museum of the Dog in St. Louis, Missouri, the Philadelphia Zoological Society’s Primate Center and in many private collections throughout the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, France, Germany, Austria, Sweden and South America.

She has exhibited at various regional and national shows and galleries including, “Contemporary Dogs American Paintings” at the William Secord Gallery in New York City; Society of Illustrators in New York City; Dog Fanciers Club in New York City; “Audubon Society Wildlife Art Exhibition in New Hope, Pennsylvania; AKC Museum of the Dog’s “Artists Registry Exhibition”; “Animals in Art” at LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; “Animal Imagery Art Show” at St. Hubert’s Giralda in Madison, New Jersey and a one woman Art Show at St. Hubert’s Giralda Animal Imagery Shop.

Throughout her career, Marion has won numerous awards for her paintings, etchings and drawings. The awards include, “Best of Show” at the Art Show at the Dog Show, “Best Painting” award from the Dog Fanciers Club, the “Award of Distinction” for painting from St. Hubert’s Giralda “Animal Imagery Art Show”, the Montgomery Kennel Club Award for “Best Entry Depicting a Terrier”, a First Place Award for hand pulled prints (etchings), and “Best Entry Depicting a Dachshund” at the Art Show at the Dog Show. Marion has also done illustrations and advertising art for stories, books and magazines for a variety of publishers.

Marion’s quote: “Before I start to do a painting, drawing or etching of dogs, I like be able to meet them, preferably, in their own surroundings. Since every dog is an individual, this helps me in my attempt to capture their personality and character on paper or canvas.”
